Tesla officially launched its operations in Saudi Arabia on April 10, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s efforts to diversify its economy and embrace sustainable technologies under Vision 2030.
Tesla’s Launch in Saudi Arabia
The launch event took place at Bujairi Terrace in Riyadh, featuring the debut of Tesla’s Cybertruck and a redesigned Model Y. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in test drives and explore Tesla’s lineup, which includes the Model 3, Model Y, and the Cybertruck.
Tesla has established its first showroom and service center in Riyadh and plans to open pop-up stores in Jeddah and Dammam. To support its vehicles, Tesla is also constructing Supercharger stations in key cities, addressing the current scarcity of EV charging infrastructure in the country.
Following the launch event, Tesla showcased its cars at various public places and malls across the Kingdom, including the Cenomi Al Nakheel Mall in Riyadh.
Future Plans: Robotaxis and Local Manufacturing
At the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum in May 2025, CEO Elon Musk announced Tesla’s intention to introduce its autonomous Robotaxi service to Saudi Arabia. While no specific timeline was provided, this initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals to modernize transportation and reduce carbon emissions.
Additionally, Tesla has been in early discussions with Saudi authorities about establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the Kingdom. These talks are part of a broader strategy to secure essential raw materials and expand Tesla’s global production footprint.
Saudi Arabia’s EV Landscape
Despite the current challenges, such as limited charging infrastructure and high temperatures affecting battery performance, Saudi Arabia is committed to increasing EV adoption. The government aims to have 30% of vehicles in Riyadh be electric by 2030 and is investing in expanding the charging network.
Tesla joins other EV manufacturers in the Saudi market, including Lucid Motors, backed by the Public Investment Fund, and Ceer Motors, the Kingdom’s first domestic EV brand launched in partnership with Foxconn.
Tesla Price in Saudi Arabia
Tesla initially launched the Model 3 and Model Y. The Model Y starts at SAR 199,990 and goes up to SAR 229,990, excluding additional fees and taxes.
